SOMIA Preparation
The SOMIA tool helps structure the implementation of actions by grouping them into a comprehensive and coherent view. It allows you to verify that all strategic dimensions are covered and to align initiatives with strategic objectives. At O Strategies, this tool is used in the Transform phase of our ART methodology for designing organizational strategies (ART: Analyze, Rethink, Transform).

Create a SOMIA Matrix
- Assign each previously identified dimension to one of the five SOMIA categories.
Strategies
The main pillars defined during the Rethink phase.
- E.g., Operational Excellence
Objectives
The objectives defined during the Rethink phase.
- E.g., Reduce the average request processing time from 48 hours to 24 hours within 12 months.
Measures
The KPIs that will track performance.
- E.g., Average response time (in hours).
Initiatives
The concrete projects or programs linked to each objective.
- E.g., Implement a new automated request management system.
Actions
The specific operational tasks to ensure the initiatives are implemented.
- E.g., Identify and select a request management software. Train staff on the use of the new system.
Adjust the plan
- Remove or group similar actions.
- Ensure all actions are aligned with strategies and objectives.
- If a dimension is underrepresented, review the list of actions and rebalance the plan.
